Tashichho Dzong(Thimphu Dzong)
TrashiChho Dzong, otherwise referred to as ‘The fortress of the glorious religion’ is a majestic monastery positioned in the western banks of the Wang Chu river, in the northern region of the capital city, Thimphu. This Dzong finely exemplifies the glory of Bhutanese architecture through its triple-tiered golden roofs, whitewashed walls and intricate wooden work.
The imposing structure of Tashichho Dzong abodes the throne room of His Majesty, the King of Bhutan and a multitude of government offices.
The Dzong also hosts this yearly extravaganza, popularly known as Tsechu festival that draws hundreds and thousands of locals and outsiders to immerse themselves in the vibrancy of Bhutan’s cultural landscape. The complex encompasses a central tower, numerous shrines, administrative offices, courtyards, maintained gardens, all adding to the site’s amalgamated traits of spirituality and governance.
